Inland in the north-west of the city, away from the coast, with more space than the central areas and a quieter feel. Being inland changes the light more than the distance suggests: the humid haze that softens the afternoon nearer the sea is much less of a factor here, so contrast runs higher.

Weddings and receptions at venues in the area, along with naming ceremonies, birthdays and portrait sessions at home.
Planning around the place
Harder afternoon light means outdoor work belongs at the ends of the day, and it means fill rather than simply finding shade, since the shade here is deep against a bright surround. Indoors the usual constraints apply, so we set the group-portrait position before the room fills.
