Terms

These terms cover photography commissioned from SVB Studio. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and anything specific to your booking — dates, hours, deliverables — is in the booking itself and takes precedence over this page.

Booking a date

A date is held for seven days from the conversation. It becomes firm when the booking is confirmed and the retainer agreed in it has been paid. Until then the date stays available to others, and we will tell you before releasing it.

Coverage on the day

We photograph the event described in the booking, for the hours it specifies. Where a function overruns, we stay if we can — we would rather have the photographs than the argument — and anything substantial beyond the agreed hours is discussed before it is charged, never afterwards.

We cannot control what a venue permits. Where a temple, hotel or hall restricts where a photographer may stand, or forbids photography during part of a ritual, we work within it.

Delivery

Edited photographs arrive in an online gallery, within the turnaround stated in your booking. Albums take longer, because they are laid out with you rather than sent for approval once.

Editing is colour and contrast. Requests to alter what happened — removing a person, changing a body, replacing a sky — are outside what we do, and we will say so rather than quietly decline.

Your photographs, and ours

The photographs are yours to print, share and keep, for as long as you like. We retain copyright, which is normal for commissioned photography and is what lets us show work in a portfolio.

We will not publish photographs of your event anywhere without asking first. You can refuse, at the booking or afterwards, and we will not ask again.

If something goes wrong

If we cannot attend through illness or emergency, we will find a photographer of comparable standard, or return what you have paid in full if we cannot. Equipment is carried in duplicate and cards are backed up on the day.

If you cancel, the retainer covers the date we turned other work away for. Anything beyond that is returned. A date moved rather than cancelled is carried across where we are free.
