Bheemunipatnam is a shoot rather than a venue. A Dutch cemetery, a colonial-era waterfront and a beach where the river meets the sea give more usable backdrops in one town than most of the city offers together. It is far enough out to be a half-day of its own.

What we photograph here

Pre-wedding shoots and portrait sessions come here most often, but a full ceremony on this stretch is entirely workable with the timings agreed in advance.

Planning around the place

Anything outdoors here is planned around the sun rather than the schedule. From about nine in the morning the light is directly overhead and unkind to faces, and it stays that way until late afternoon; the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset are when the sea gives light back rather than taking it away. Sea air is hard on equipment, so we bring more of it than we need.
