Photographing in Kakinada
Kakinada is a comfortable run from Visakhapatnam and we photograph here regularly. The work splits between temple ceremonies, which follow a traditional order closely, and the halls around the town centre, which are convenient for guests and difficult for vehicles.
Coverage is planned around the traffic in the middle of town rather than the distance from Vizag. Arrivals at a central hall are photographed on the move because there is rarely anywhere to stop, and we get the family groups done early while everyone is still together and still dressed.
Most families here book two to four weeks ahead for a ceremony and considerably further for a wedding. Travel from Visakhapatnam is included in the standard fee; an early-morning muhurtham simply means we come the night before.
